CLL6 – The child will develop early phonological awareness (awareness of the units of sound).
CLL6.4e Segments words into syllables.
WSO: Demonstrates phonological awareness.
Activities: Syllable Race.  Have lanes that are separated into boxes.  Students lines up at the end of their lane.  They take turns announcing a word and advancing the number of spaces as their are syllables in their word.
Syllable Land.  Using the Candyland board, students draw picture cards.  Saying the word, the student can advance their piece that many spaces.
